Liposuction
|
What is Liposuction?
Liposuction is a cosmetic surgical method that gets rid of unwanted fat
deposits from particular areas of the body. This includes the abdomen,
hips, buttocks, thighs, knees, chin, cheeks, neck, chest and upper
arms. This method has become very fashionable among women who account
for almost 80% of all cosmetic surgeries. Men seem to be hitching on,
needing to expel excess fats around their waist or from their neck or
back.
However, liposuction should not be used to supplant for dieting and
exercise, but it can help to take away those unyielding areas of fat
that do not react easily to exercise and dieting.
Cosmetic
Surgical Progress
There have been several new innovative strides that have been made to
this type of surgical operation including ultrasound-assisted
lipoplasty (UAL), the tumescent technique, and the super-wet technique,
that are now helping many cosmetic surgeons to render particular
patients with more accurate results and a faster recovery rate.
Who should avail of liposuction?
Liposuction deals best for people who are at a normal to slightly above normal weight, who have excess fat in unwanted areas of their body. Older people whose skin does not have good elasticity may not achieve the same effects as that of a younger one. Being healthy is also very important. People suffering from diabetes or heart and lung disease should consult first with their doctor before considering liposuction.
Time of Recovery
Time of Recovery can be anywhere from a few days to a few weeks depending on what part of the body is being covered by the operation.
